Member Event: Collection Tour with David Walega

Intuit invites members to a series of virtual private collection tours, in which a collector of outsider and self-taught art leads a tour of their home and shares stories about their collecting journey. Each event concludes with a Q&A with the collector.

Join fellow Intuit members for a tour of David Walega’s home! David Walega has been collecting art for 25 years. His collecting journey started with a keen interest in outsider art and has evolved, deepened and matured in several directions over the years. Although Walega’s current collecting practice focuses on Contemporary, Latin, Queer and Conceptual art, often by emerging artists, the thematic threads that hold the collection together include fastidious and obsessive mark making, “other”-ness, and the body. Attendees will see work by familiar artists like Bill Traylor, James Castle, Hawkins Bolden and Susan Te Kahurangi King, in addition to work by Deanna Lawson, William J. O’Brien, Harry Gould Harvey IV, Bethany Collins and Tony Lewis, among others.
