Meet Izzi Vasquez
Izzi Vasquez (they/them) is a Chicago-based multimedia artist, designer, and animator from El Paso, TX. As a kid, their Abuela taught them how to create art and mosaics from found and broken objects. Their mosaic work was part of their solo exhibition, “I’ll Plant You A Garden,” in 2023 and featured in the Chicago Reader.
Since relocating to Chicago, they have collaborated with many Chicago area musicians to create album artwork, visuals, and animations and currently co-run Happy Gallery, a community art space in Humboldt Park.
About Happy Gallery
Happy Gallery is a queer, artist-run gallery and studio space in a repurposed storefront located in Humboldt Park, Chicago. The gallery focuses on exhibiting emerging artists from its community and beyond, as well as hosting music and community events.
Art After Work is a series of hands-on artmaking workshops facilitated by Chicago-based artists. Every month, explore new inventive ways to use common, inexpensive, and salvaged materials to create your own unique work of art. Each workshop is designed for you to connect with your creativity, and each other!
