ELUSIVE Evidence, a film and performance investigation into extra terrestrials

Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art will present the film and performance series ELUSIVE Evidence, a companion to the ongoing art exhibition Ken Grimes: ELUSIVE MESSAGES. Grimes’s pictorial investigations probe paranormal incidents from outer space. Alien visitations, crop circles, flying saucers, and space travel are all themes Grimes seeks to understand through collecting, examining, and evaluating their meaning in his paintings. All events will take place at Intuit, 756 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago. All events are suggested donation.

They Live
Saturday, March 3, 2 pm

A rugged loner (played by 80s WWF wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper!) stumbles upon a terrifying discovery: ghoulish alien creatures are masquerading as humans while they lull the public into submission through subliminal advertising messages. The film operates on many levels: paranoid science fiction, political satire, consumer culture critique, action thriller. Witness the legendary five and one-half minute fist fight over a pair of sunglasses! "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass . . . and I'm all out of bubblegum!" Directed by John Carpenter. 1988, 93 min.

Xwing presents 'pataphysical puppetry on the extra terrestrial
Thursday, March 15, 7 pm

'Pataphysics is "the science of imaginary solutions", invented in the late 1880's by French playwright, and philosopher Alfred Jarry. It is a means of understanding and explaining the world when conventional science fails. Jarry’s ideas are the ongoing inspiration for Xwing's puppet shows. The company is currently performing in residential bedrooms, living and dining rooms to audiences no larger than their own troupe (for details go to www.nicholaslowe.co.uk). Xwing has prepared a show especially for Intuit to accompany the exhibition Ken Grimes: ELUSIVE MESSAGES. Do not miss this world premiere by the only 'pataphysical puppet show on this planet.
