Education Internship


Reports to: Education Manager
Pay Category: Unpaid
Other compensation: Occasional food and travel
Required Hours: 15-20 hours per week (2-3 days per week)

Overview of responsibilities:

  • Assist with development and administration of museum education programs including Intuit’s award-winning Teacher Fellowship Program, museum after-hours program, teen programs, DIY art workshops, school and public outreach programs, and more
  • Provide onsite support during educational workshops, special events, and public programs
  • Help with the installation of student art
  • Aid in the coordination and facilitation of group tours and school field trips
  • Create educational materials, gallery guides, and activities related to temporary exhibitions
  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Provide general administrative support to the Education Manager
  • Interact with staff, board members, volunteers, interns, curators, artists, lenders, vendors, museum visitors, and other constituents through written and verbal communication on a regular basis

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Museum education and/or art education experience preferred
  • Experience in teaching and/or public speaking preferred
  • Lesson plan writing and gallery activity development experience preferred
  • Experience facilitating or assisting school outreach programming preferred
  • PC and iPad proficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using Quickbooks Point of Sale (POS) System preferred
  • Video documentation and photography skills preferred
  • Passion for learning in museums
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative thinker
  • Ability to work independently 
  • High level of professionalism
